BOBATH-CONCEPT

 
The Bobath concept is an individualized, everyday-life-oriented therapy concept that promotes the mobility and independence of people with neurological conditions. It is based on neuroplasticity, i.e., the brain's ability to form new connections and relearn functions.
It was developed by the physiotherapist Berta Bobath and the neurologist Karel Bobath in collaboration.
This treatment can be used for patients after a stroke, with multiple sclerosis, with Parkinson's disease or after a traumatic brain injury.
 
The goals of Bobath therapy are:
 

  • Improvement of posture and movement control
  • Promoting an efficient gait pattern
  • Normalization of muscle tension (tone, spasticity)
  • Promoting balance and coordination
  • Increasing independence in everyday life
